Nominees 2023: Service design

National listing service for healthcare centers
(E-hälsomyndigheten and Socialstyrelsen)

As of July 2022, everyone in Sweden has a right to choose and register (“list”) with a healthcare center, and every region is required to provide such a listing service. Everyone should have access to sustainable and equitable care on equal terms. The National Board of Health and Welfare and the Swedish eHealth Agency applied user-driven innovation and service design to develop guidelines and to visualize how such a listing service might be designed.

When Is It My Turn?
(Södersjukhuset)

Every year, almost 100,000 patients pass through the emergency department of the Stockholm hospital Södersjukhuset. Ambiguity and lack of information previously led to a feeling of lack of control, fear and frustration for both patients and relatives. With this project, the hospital redesigned the patient experience and worked with the organizational culture to increase safety and well-being at the emergency department.
