Hand-woven curtain made for the cultural center Sara kulturhus in Skellefteå, Sweden. A curtain in gray-brown wool with a shimmering pattern in black linen. Slightly wistful, elegant, yet raw. It whispers of the Västerbotten region, of cultural heritage and of our time. The curtain was hand-woven by 55 weavers during the pandemic, designed and project managed by Viktoria Melinder. Half of the wool yarn comes from the local sheep farm Kräkångers Ekogård.
In 2022, Beskow von Post received five tons of discarded work clothes from the textile service company Elis. Discarded trousers became new upcycled jackets for the sellers at Elis. With design for upcycling into workwear – a unisex overshirt, practical and timeless. The jacket is a natural introduction for the salespeople to talk about the company’s sustainability work. Each jacket is made from about five pairs of work trousers that would otherwise have been discarded.
Vandra Rugs presents Horizon, a handwoven rug created by Yuriy Zimenko, Ukrinaian architect living in Kiev. It is woven in a combination on flatweave and handtufting and made of woolyarn and linen warp. Inspired by formal graphic elements such as lines, coloured spots and fixed configurations, Zimenko has created patterns on wool that not only complete the décor but also imbue the space with a soothing meditative rhythm – an energy embodied in all his designs.
