The growth in bicycle commuting is inspiring, but also brings to light the risks involved in sharing the roads with motorists. POC and Forth is our commuter collection that represents much more than apparel, innovation and helmets. It is a means for us to share our view on what we believe should be at the forefront of commuting to give everyone the chance to support a zero carbon society and still enjoy the simplicity and sensory wonder of cycling.
Trends we want to challenge: how infrastructure is developed for cars; city planning; and the lack of interaction between road users. We want to advance bicycle technology and communication, as well as fabric development to create fashion with real purpose, and all of these are embodied in POC and Forth. Wearable technology, innovative connectivity, advanced fabrics and materials are blended together with history, bicycle culture and tradition to give POC and Forth a fundamental role in supporting a greener world, making commuting safer and celebrating the role of the bicycle.
Rugged Tech matches contemporary design to the latest technology. Sensors and smart materials were adapted to a Reschia classic. An automatic chip, located underneath the toes of the wearer, powers the technology from within. This enables a wide range of possibilities: the wearer can identify their coordinates and activate a safety measure that informs family and friends of their location. For the visually impaired, it presents a function of connectivity with the user’s phone that narrates the way around a city to the wearer. Its technology also embraces the social nature of fashion, the need for connectivity through social media and virtual communities. The boots detect other RuggedTech boots nearby and exchange wearers’ information when they come into physical contact. Additionally, an insole and lining in a smart fabric brings comfort to the wearer in the cold Swedish winter. The heating system of the boots can also connect to the chip, which automatically adjusts the temperature.
