Collection 1 for OMMO comprises 16 kitchen utensils that address our day-to-day kitchen rituals. Made of high quality plastics like Bakelite and silicone, many of the pieces feature a hidden twist. The centrepiece of the collection is called Hoop. The components of this serving bowl are designed as a modular system and when used together, a waste container is elevated above the tabletop. The container is designed to cleverly hide waste such as olive pits. The trivet Flip is an innovative piece. The ’fingers’ are on hinges thin enough to fold all of them together with two concealed magnets that snap closed.
The celebrated Signe Persson-Melin has travelled a long, unusual and successful road as ceramicist and designer. A creative journey that has resulted in several design classics, of which the two-armed candelabra Salut may be her latest addition. Moulded in one piece with a subtle and elegant texture.
“I like the idea of the horseshoe, it creates a beautiful symmetry. When I saw the result, I was so pleased that the relief had such lovely texture, not too glossy and not too matte. The rough material makes the perfect surface,” says Signe on her new product, made from recycled aluminium.
In connection with the launch of Salut during Stockholm Furniture Fair 2016, a new mini book about Signe Persson-Melin and her creative life was also released.
